Founder and Psychotherapist

Jenny Volkers, LMHC

My experience spans from working in hospital systems across New York City and Long Island to offering psychotherapy services through Telehealth. I have worked with a diverse age range, from children to adults, in both individual and group settings. In my practice, I prioritize active listening and empathy to help clients feel at ease in therapy.

I am adept at assisting individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, grief, loss, life transitions and planning, disability, and stress. My treatment approach involves understanding each person’s unique challenges, fostering skill development, and jointly creating a plan of action that empowers them to become their own healer. As a clinician, my commitment lies in empowering clients by teaching and enhancing skills that promote self-awareness, adaptive coping, and decision-making, guiding them on their personal paths to wellness.

My Approach

A person-centered approach is utilized, emphasizing collaboration because you are the expert on yourself. My role aims to provide support, enhance the articulation of your lived experiences, assist in clarifying your values, foster emotional literacy, create solutions to challenges, and recognize strengths—all in pursuit of self-leadership. I incorporate strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) to address concerns effectively.

Cognitive Behavioral

Here, we focus on recognizing patterned thinking and fundamental beliefs, pinpointing unhelpful thinking styles known as cognitive distortions, and mastering tools that enable you to transform your approach to life. We will explore various tools designed to involve you in adopting new perspectives.

Internal Family Systems

IFS has become a key component of my practice, which I describe as experiential learning that enhances one’s ability to regulate emotions by engaging deeply with the mind-body connection. The objective is to gain a deeper understanding of the origins of your concerns, emotions, and behaviors.
